How do I promote students to the next class at the end of the year?

Go to People → Students → Promote. Promote from the top class down, so each target class is empty when you reach it. For example, promote class 10 (graduate them) first, then 9 → 10, then 8 → 9, and so on.

  1. Pick the From Class. The target class (one grade up, same section) is auto-selected.
  2. For the highest class, the target is 🎓 Graduate. Those students leave the school as passed out.
  3. Untick any students who are being held back.
  4. Optionally tick Generate fees for promoted students, with a due date and frequency. Fees follow the target class's fee structure, and sibling discounts are applied.
  5. Confirm. The page then offers Promote the next class.

Roll numbers are kept as they were.

The page warns me the target class still has students. What should I do?

That usually means you are going bottom-up. Promote the higher class first. If you are sure (e.g. merging classes), press I understand — do it anyway.

What about results? Should I promote by pass/fail?

Annual results can show who passed (see Exams & Results). Untick the students who failed before promoting the class.
