Does Skoolyte work without internet?

Yes, for the daily work. When the connection drops, pages show Offline Mode, and you can still look up students and staff, collect fees (including for families), mark attendance, enter marks, and view results and accounts from the last sync. Changes are saved on the device and sent automatically when the internet comes back.

A few things need a connection: imports, settings, chat, sending messages and building PDFs from the server.

What is different about fees taken offline?

The receipt number is provisional until it syncs, and then the final number is issued. Totals use the last synced dues and don't include late fees. Collect online when you can.

How do I prepare a device before going offline?

Settings → Offline Mode → Prefetch All Data downloads everything needed to work offline. Do this on the counter computer each morning, or before a known power cut. The same page shows Pending Changes, Last Synced, and Sync Changes Now to force a sync.

Some changes failed to sync. What do I do?

A panel lists any change the server refused (for example, a fee that had already been paid on another computer). For each one choose Retry or Discard. Discarding puts the device back to what the school's server has. Nothing is lost on the server.

Is my data safe if the browser is cleared?

Changes not yet synced live only on that device until they sync, so sync before clearing the browser. Clear Local Data on the Offline Mode page removes the device's copy. It never deletes anything on the server.
