How can Skoolyte message parents?
Two ways:
- Direct message (free): Skoolyte opens WhatsApp on your own phone or WhatsApp Web with the message ready, and you press send. Turn it on in Settings → Notifications → Communication Methods. No gateway needed. Receipt sharing and fee reminders use this.
- Automatic (gateway): messages go out by themselves through an SMS or WhatsApp Business provider your school has an account with.
How do I set up SMS?
Settings → Notifications → SMS & WhatsApp Gateways → Add Provider. For Pakistani schools we recommend Veevotech, which reaches Jazz, Telenor, Zong and Ufone through one gateway. Enter the API key and your approved Sender ID (mask) from your Veevotech dashboard, and tick Set as Active Provider. Twilio is also supported.
How do I set up WhatsApp Business messages?
Under WhatsApp Services → Add Service, enter your Meta WhatsApp Business details (permanent access token, phone number ID, business account ID). Automatic WhatsApp messages must use templates approved by Meta. Pick the template for each message and map its variables.
Which messages are sent automatically?
Each event has its own tab: Payment Receipt, Fee Reminder, Overdue Alert and Attendance (absence). For each, choose the Delivery Channel (one channel per message type, so parents never get the same message twice) and write the message using placeholders like {{student_name}}. Payment receipts can Attach PDF Receipt.
Can I save messages I send often?
Yes. Under Direct Templates → Add Template. A Default Signature (e.g. "Regards, Principal") is added to every direct message.
